Nothing says Movie Star like a pair of big expressive eyes. Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway or The Jolie--you get the idea.

We love that huge doll-eyed look, but while some of us were born with it, the rest of us need a little extra help to make our peepers pop.   Thankfully, there are some great beauty products and tricks to make achieving this seductive look simple. Maybelline New York makeup artist Grace Lee gave us the skinny on how to get big eyes in just 5 easy steps.

Step 1: Highlight

Use a highlighter underneath your brow bone and along your cheekbone to reflect light and make the area appear larger and brighter. Now the focus is directly on your eyes.

Step 2: Base Colour

To neutralize redness and create a blank canvas for your eye makeup, apply an eyeshadow in a neutral shade like a taupe, cream or sheer yellow.

Step 3: Add a Pop of Colour

Grace suggests using a bright vivid colour like neon green in the corner of the eye to make them pop, though any bright that suits your taste and colouring will do.

Step 4: Contour the Crease

"Blend a neutral brown tone eyeshadow in the crease of the eye to create depth," advises Grace. "Also blend towards the outer area of the eye to create the illusion of bigger eyes."

Step 5: Mascara

Generously apply coats of Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara from the root of the lashes and wiggling upwards and outwards. For that gorgeous, doll-eyed look, use the second smaller brush to apply mascara to your lower lashes. This creates a 360 degree effect for a sultry, full impact look.

Did you catch that? Yup, this mascara comes with two brushes designed specifically for the upper and lower lashes individually. Stay tuned for our full video review of the new Falsies Big Eyes Mascara from Maybelline coming soon!

I don't get the green shadow... I thought it was highlighted in the photo as a refrence not the actual eyeshadow she'd wear...

I think a bold turquoise would also look good (esp on fair skin tones) and maybe a little more to some people's tastes. A punchy yellow might be fun for deep skin tones too. Eye colour will also be a factor.

I've been wanting a look that doesn't use eyeliner but still looks bold. I like this, but lime green definitely isn't for me.
