Burnt coffee...yappy employees

I was waiting for someone to meet me alomg the highway and sat at tim hortons in espanola ontario. It was me and my 6 month old. Employees at wendys closing up...i ordered my coffee and waited for my bf. The employee working that night discussed how rose (another employee who worked earlier) didnt do this, she gossips and doesnt pull her weight. The girl working complained how its not fair she had to pick up slack. Im not a local but as indrank my burnt tasting coffee i updted my fb status to recall the convo about the employee who must not like her job or rose. A few other local customers came in and she proceeded to tell the customers about roses poor work ethic. I enjoyed the petty entertainment as i waited but man did i feel bad for the young man (coworker) who was just trying to do his duties and finish his shift. I could tell he had a long shift of coffee brewing and rose horror stories. Maybe employees shouldnt gossip so customers could hear and then continue to complain to customers. Seems unprofessional.
