Chicks Get Fit: Burlesque Class at Brass Vixens

This fitness adventure has taken us to some pretty innovative and interesting (to say the least) ways to get fit and feel confident with our bodies. So I hope you Chicks have been following along. If not, here is our twerking story to give you a feel for what we've been doing.

Our latest fitness adventure brought us back to Brass Vixens, but this time we worked on our burlesque skills. Yes, I said burlesque. You know like Dita Von Teese, minus the super cute outfits and the giant champagne glass.

Going into the class I was so unfamiliar with the art of burlesque and was wishing I wore more layers in case there would be stripping involved, which was a terrifying thought, but it was the total opposite. The class left me feeling super confident and sexy, it was exactly what I needed on a Sunday morning.

My super cool boss and I decided to take our shameless selves back to Brass Vixens for their Sunday morning Burlesque class. The class wasn't too big and had many different women who varied in skill level. At first everyone was super scared to show off their hips that don't lie and bring out their inner Burlesque Chick, but soon enough we were strutting across the wooden floors with fierce looks and hair flips. Plus, getting motivated by a professional burlesque dancer as an instructor helped a lot. Our instructors name was Pastel Supernova, she is a well known beauty in both the burlesque and dance scene. She's also extremely talented and bubbly which is just what you need when teaching such a burlesque class. Check her out here.

During the class I felt like a clash between Queen Bey and the latest member of the Pussy Cat Dolls. The class consisted of working with our bodies and our minds to make us feel confident and sexy, and in the end we got to learn a burlesque routine that unfortunately did not work well for my uncoordinated feet. This class made me see that burlesque is not all about getting nekkid and showing off your sexy body, but all about confidence and drama. Although I can't really say that I was sweating during the class or hurting the next day, it definitely worked out my mind and gave me some new moves to try next time I want to feel sexy (sorry mom).

Would you ever brave a burlesque class? Have you ever taken an interesting fitness class?

This class looks like such fun! If I were to enrolled, it would have to be a beginners class as I feel intimidated just reading about it! I don't know..... It would be fun to get a few girls together and go....

This looks interesting... I'd totally consider taking a beginners class... But I'd be too intimidated to be in a class with more experienced one.
